“I believe every guitar player inherently has something unique about their playing. They just have to identify what makes them different and develop it.”“ – Jimmy Page
“My guitar is not a thing. It is an extension of myself. It is who I am.” Joan Jett
So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I’d try it too. Stevie Ray Vaughan
Love those quotes.
How about that: YOU have your own unique voice on the guitar. It doesn’t matter where you are in your playing.
Sometimes it is just jamming on some songs,
Sometimes it is making your own stuff up,
Sometimes its just sitting around the living room strumming a song,
Sometimes it’s onstage in front of cheering fans
It doesn’t matter. Don’t think you have to be a mega rock star to have an impact in your music.
I know a guy that loves to play for his infant son. What joy there is just in that.
Every note you play, every chord you strike, makes the world a better place.
Keep on picking and strumming everyone!
I have a song for you to try out in the video above. Some of my students are already working on this. It is great for beginner and intermediate players.
It’s Heart of Gold by Neil Young. It’s great for learning not only common chords used in music, but also how to change those chords effectively and to work on basic strumming. I slow it down in the video too for you to follow along.

A great acoustic guitar song to learn. If you have some basic knowledge and experience on guitar, you should have all the tools needed to play the song on guitar.
In this guitar tutorial, I broke the guitar down into 3 basic parts: the verse (the Intro has the same chords as well as the rhythm guitar behind the guitar solo), chorus, and the bridge.
Intro 1:21
Verse 1:37
Chorus 1:49
Rock On!
